Tone “Doc” Hardy has music and radio broadcasting in his blood. His father, Hal Hardy, was “DJ Soul on Ice” in the 1970’s, and was a pioneer in Connecticut, for black radio personalities. Tone used to help his Dad DJ weddings and events in CT, and NY, in the 1970’s, and was a DJ himself from 1984 into the 1990’s. Always a lover of jazz, Tone launched the Jazz radio show, “Jazz On Ice – The Sunday Brunch”, in January of 2017 in his hometown of Norwalk, CT. His mission is to help preserve Jazz music, or as his father says, “put Jazz on Ice.” “Music is medicine,” he closes each show, “…and I AM The Doctor.”
”Jazz and Soul on Ice,” broadcast on the 3rd & 5th Thursday of the month, 2 – 6 AM, is dedicated to preserving all forms of Jazz music. While our motto is “Preserving Bebop 2 Hip Hop”, we also play Swing and New Orleans jazz, too. You are likely to hear Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Pete Fountain, Miles Davis, Donald Byrd, Lafayette Funk Rock Band, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Marcus Miller or new artists like Brendan Rothwell, Kristina Koller, Debora Galan or Christian De Mesones, all in the same session. Ice preserves, and this show has as its goal: putting ALL forms of Jazz and Soul on Ice!
