A Note from WPKN Program Director Rod Richardson:
Starting next Tuesday, July 6, WPKN’s weekday broadcast schedule will change somewhat.
Free Speech Radio News is moving to 6 PM and will be followed by a brief local newscast and then a half-hour of public affairs programming until 7 PM or so.
WPKN’s daytime shows will generally run from 6 AM to 9 AM, 9 AM to 12 noon, 12 noon to 3 PM and 3 PM to 6 PM. WPKN’s evening shows will run from 7 PM to 10 PM, 10 PM to 2 AM and 2 AM to 6 AM.
On Thursdays, we will continue to have an hour of public affairs programming from 12 noon to 1 PM, featuring the Organic Farm Stand on the 2nd Thursday of each month, in rotation with “First Voices,” Indigenous Radio with Tiokasin Ghosthorse and Indigenous Politics: From Native New England and Beyond with J. Kehaulani Kauanui. Our 6:30 PM public affairs line-up features: This Way Out (Monday), Progressive Radio (Tuesday), History Counts, Tidings From Hazel Kahan, The Forest And The Trees, and East End Ink (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesdays, respectively), Between The Lines (Thursday), and Counterspin (Friday).
There are several nationally-syndicated public affairs programs that we have been offering in the recent past that will no longer be heard on WPKN. However you can still hear them through their web sites: GRIT radio with Laura Flanders (www.lauraflanders.com), Sea Change Radio (www.cchange.net), Sierra Club Radio (www.sierraclub.org/radio), and Democracy Now (www.democracynow.org).
Over the course of the summer, we will be making improvements to WPKN’s web site. As that work continues, do keep in mind that each day’s schedule continues to appear on our home page as the best way (apart from listening to the broadcast itself) of helping you stay in touch with what’s on WPKN at any given moment.
Thank you for your attention!
