Starting us off this week is Jay Rowe’s 8th Annual Smooth Jazz For Scholars Concert, which will be held on Saturday night, May 2nd, at 8. Starting on Thursday night at 8, and continuing for the following three nights, a series of concerts to be held in Wesleyan University’s Crowell Concert Hall, will take place. Professor Anthony Braxton and the Large Ensemble will start off this performance series. Then, on the following night, also at 8, Adjunct Associate Professor Jay Hoggard will perform with The Wesleyan Jazz Ensemble. This concert is FREE. Last, on Saturday night at 8, The Bennie Maupin Trio with special guests: bassist – Buster Williams, and drummer Billy Hart will head-line. The Wesleyan Jazz Orchestra will open this show.
