At 5:15 PM: Alexa Little, Yale Undergraduate who will be talking about her work on behalf of endangered languages—an interest of hers since elementary school. One of the senior researchers with whom she works, Mark Turin, will be giving a lecture “Collect, Protect, Connect: Documenting the Voices of Vanishing Worlds” on November 30, 4 p.m., at Yale’s Center for Science and Social Science Information (CSSSI), located in the lower level of the Kline Biology Tower at 219 Prospect Street.
At 6:00 PM: Singer/artist/community-minded gal Lys Guillorn will be on the phone talking about a Nov. 30, TRIBUTE TO THE ANTHOLOGY OF AMERICAN FOLK MUSIC: To Benefit CT Food Bank • Brooklyn musician Elisa Flynn and CT musician Lys Guillorn co-host a tribute to the Anthology of American Folk Music, to feature 12-14 area musicians. Each musician will perform two songs from the Anthology. All proceeds will go to the CT Food Bank. The Anthology was compiled by folklorist, researcher and musicologist Harry Smith, and originally released as a three-record set in 1952. It went on to influence folk musicians of the ’50s and ’60s, directly presaging the folk revival and providing a basis for folk and Americana musicians who followed.
