1) Donna Smith, Community Organizer/Legislative Advocate with the California Nurses Association, (who was featured in Michael Moore’s documentary “Sicko,”) discusses her group’s protest actions in response to flaws in the current House and Senate drafts of health care reform legislation.

2) Dahr Jamail, author of the book, “The Will to Resist: Soldiers Who Refuse to Fight in Iraq and Afghanistan,” talks about why he believes there’s been a rise of suicides and violence in the U.S. military, as seen in the recent deadly shooting rampage at Fort Hood in Texas.

3) Karl Frisch, Senior Fellow with the media watch group Media Matters for America, assesses the corporate media spin on the results of local and state elections November 3rd.

4) Joe Dinkin, Communications Director with the Working Families Party of Connecticut, talks about the gains and losses for progressives in Connecticut’s November 3rd municipal elections.

An encore performance of Stacy Phillips & Paul Howard live at the Kasbah from January 6, 2008.

The duo performs a wide range of material swing/jazz standards, Caribbean dances, Hawaiian hulas, bluegrass, calypso and East European gypsy music – all in their authentic styles. The addition of their original compositions makes their concerts a stimulating and diverse experience. Stacy Phillips and Paul Howard have been together since 1988 and have performed in a variety of venues, including several tours of Europe and the West Coast. They have two CDs, one self-titled and the other, “Neo Urban Traditions”.
