1) Alfred McCoy, Professor of History at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and author of, “The Politics of Heroin,” and “A Question of Torture: CIA Interrogation, from the Cold War to the War on Terror,” talks about the threat to U.S. democracy from within — examined in his latest book, “Policing America’s Empire: The United States, the Philippines, and the Rise of the Surveillance State.”
2) Dana Frank, Professor of History at the University of California, Santa Cruz and co-founder of UCSC’s Center for Labor Studies, discusses the unraveling of an agreement to reverse the June 28th Coup in Honduras and continuing human rights violations by the coup – installed government there.
3) Yoram Bauman, Environmental Economist at the University of Washington, author of the forthcoming book, “The Cartoon Introduction to Economics,” and the world’s only stand-up economist, analyzes the current U.S. debate on cap and trade legislation in advance of December’s United Nations Climate change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.
4) John Mohrbacher of Mobilization for Heatlh Care for All talks about the civil disobedience actions that he and other CT health care activists have participated in at CT Senator Joseph Lieberman’s offices in Hartford and Washington. The actions, resulting in 19 arrests thus far, have been organized in reaction to the Senator’s pledge to filibuster any healthcare bill that contains a pubic health insurance option.
