For the week ending
Sunday, May 11, 2008
In 1942, the White Rose was a
resistance group in Nazi Germany that worked to educate and organize
opposition to the horrifying agenda of the Third Reich.
In the spirit of the White Rose,
WPKN offers a weekly Political Calendar in order to give voice to the
struggles of marginalized peoples.
Here are the
current listings:
On Thursday, May 8th from 7:00pm – 9:00pm, The Connecticut Network to Abolish the Death Penalty (CNADP) will hold their monthly meeting at the Universalist Church, 433 Fern Street (2 blocks east of North Main St.), in West Hartford, CT. Please contact Robert Nave by e-mail naverobert@yahoo.com or call (203) 206-9854.
The Connecticut Network to Abolish the Death Penalty (CNADP) has been working to abolish the death penalty in Connecticut since 1986. CNADP stands strongly opposed to the death penalty as it is poor public policy. The death penalty does not deter crime, it is not cost efficient, it kills the mentally ill, it is economically and racially biased, it kills the innocent, and it does not provide closure to families - it is simply revenge, not justice.
