with Bruce Swan
Like many of the programmers on the station, I enjoy many forms of music, my sweet spot ‘Merican Music and that would include: The Band, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Pure Prairie League, Hot Tuna, New Riders of the Purple Sage; would not exclude the likes of the Rolling Stones, U2, some New Wave Bands and now more than ever, blues music – Howlin Wolf, Sonny Boy Williams and new Blues like Bex Marshall.
“All my life, I have wanted to be part of radio and am now privileged to be able to do so. I am part of a great station with wonderful listeners and programmers. The listeners are generous with their support and patient with the occasional mistakes that are made. The programmers brilliant in their differences and dedication to the craft of delivering good radio.

More about Bruce Swan
- FAVORITE SONG: “Lake Shore Drive” by Alliota, Haynes, and Jeremiah. I can play the song over and over and over and always be left with a smile on my old face.
- FAVORITE ARTIST: Tough question, feeling comfortable in many genres, it is very hard to pick one. I think the best group ever, The Grateful Dead; but would quickly pick the greatest rock and roll album ever as “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen.
- FAVORITE THING ABOUT WPKN: It is real. It is part of a rapidly diminishing landscape of radio. That is sad, but the listeners permit us to continue to bring great music, news, and public interest stories to everyone.
- FAVORITE EPISODE: Hands down, opening up the “Bob Dylan Two Day Drive” August 30, 2012. Great energy in the tally room, great tunes on the players, and one of the best pledge periods of the drive. With humble thanks to those that allowed for it to happen, my gratitude.
