After Bob Dylan’s mother died in January of 2002,
listener Tim Hickey phoned me while I was on the air,
to ask if I had read the obit.
I had not, so he sent it to me by fax the next moment.
The first poem Dylan, ever wrote, was his for his mother Beatrice,
on Mother's Day and was published in that obituary.

"My dear mother, I hope that you
Will never grow old and gray,
So that all the people in the world will say:
"Hello, young lady, Happy Mother's Day."

Whenever Tim Hickey phones I always think of this sweet little poem.

The following terrific sets of music,
leading up to the fundraising portion of my show
were programmed by Tim Hickey
who joined me for the afternoon in the studios of WPKN.
