John Rivera: Married 33 years and resides in Westchester County, NY, but grew up in what he calls “…the largest town in Puerto Rico- the South Bronx.” In the late 50’s and throughout the 60’s he heard, and saw the great Latin bands of that era: Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez, Machito, Eddie & Charlie Palmieri, Ray Barretto, Johnny Pacheco, Joe Cuba Sextet, etc. He feels strongly that this genre of Latin music is under served, and does his best to keep it alive with his show “Drive Time Salsa“, 4-7 PM, on the 2nd Friday of the month. Before he discovered Latin music he was, and still is, a fan of Doo-wop groups, and later Motown, and will, on occasion, drop them into his playlist.
