Chuck Wolfe received his education from Northeastern and Harvard University. He has worked for Harvard Business School, Exxon Mobil, and 10 years as Director of Leadership Development for The Hartford. In 1994 he started Charles J. Wolfe Associates, LLC, a consulting practice specializing in leadership, change, culture, teams and performance.
As an executive coach, keynote speaker, consultant and trainer he has worked for such clients as Aetna, AIG, Allianz, Bank of America, Coca Cola, Disney, ESPN, Fidelity, Foxwoods, GE, Kaiser Permanente, Marriott, Sheraton, Xerox, US Coast Guard, US Army, UTC, Viacom, Yale New Haven Hospital, MIT Sloan School, and Wharton Leadership Development Center. In 1999 he formed a strategic alliance with the pioneers in emotional intelligence. These pioneers included Peter Salovey, currently the President of Yale. In collaboration with Peter and his colleagues Chuck developed the Emotion Roadmap which is featured each time he is on the air. Chuck has developed an international reputation as a leading expert in the field. In the past Chuck worked as a school counselor, adjunct faculty member, family therapist, and rehab counselor. In one of his first jobs as a young adult Chuck worked at Boston State Hospital, an institution for the mentally insane. He says with a smile, it helped a lot with preparing me for my work in the corporate world.
On WPKN he hosts his radio talk show, The Emotion Roadmap: Take the Wheel and Control How You Feel, 12-1 PM ET, the 1st, 2nd, & 4th Wednesdays of every month. Chuck’s approach is unique and practical. The show involves listeners from the community calling in and asking for Chuck’s help with emotionally challenging situations. Chuck describes his style as somewhere between two renowned radio talk show therapists, i.e., Frazier and Dr. Laura. Not quite as funny as Frazier and not as confrontational as Dr. Laura. He has helped a Mother rebuild trust with her daughter, a mid-level manager improve his relationship with the leader of his department, and a recently retired woman overcome depression and adapt to her new lifestyle.
In some shows Chuck interviews people who have something important to share that relates to our understanding of emotional intelligence. Examples include the Ambassador from Chile after the famous rescue of the trapped miners, a CEO from a company in India that has won awards for its treatment of employees, and a career specialist from Harvard who volunteers time to help homeless veterans find jobs. Recently Chuck introduced a new segment of his show that typically runs on the 1st Wednesday on the month. He calls it “Emotionally Leaning in to Life: A Program for Women with Women.” If you go to Chuck’s Facebook page you will be kept informed of what is happening. In the series for Women he has had some wonderful shows already- and the series is continuing. The playlist for shows that have aired can be viewed & listened to on the public radio exchange at: Emotionally Leaning in to Life: A Program for Women with Women
On a personal note, Chuck is married, has three daughters, sons-in-law, and one very special grandson. He has his own horse, loves riding bareback and going on trail rides. He enjoys playing racquetball, swimming in the ocean, and being with his family. If you want to be connected with him you can invite him to join your network on LinkedIn. You will find him listed as Charles J. Wolfe, CEO of Charles J. Wolfe Associates, LLC.
Chuck’s vision is to make a meaningful, positive difference in the lives of others. For additional information about Chuck, his company and about emotional intelligence please visit his website: Emotional Intelligence.
