Allyson McCabe –
Hosts “FM Mutations,” a new WPKN Radio Show, every 2nd Saturday of the month from 7-10 PM.
I’ll spin rock, punk, and indie- mostly demos, covers, outtakes, and other fun rarities.
When I’m not spinning records at WPKN, I report and produce music stories for National Public Radio, other public radio stations and programs, and podcasts. I also write music criticism for The Brooklyn Rail, and review music books and memoirs for The San Francisco Chronicle. A long-time columnist for The Rumpus, I’m the creator/writer/producer of the magazine’s profile series ALBUM: Portraits of Artists and Writers at Work (archived), and SOUND & VISION: Behind the Scenes in the Music Industry (current). I’ve also recently launched a new illustrated column (with Esme Blegvad) for The Rumpus called WANTED/NEEDED/LOVED: Musicians and the Stuff They Can’t Live Without.
